Sunday school

We offer Sunday school for children during worship from Rally Day in the fall until May when the school year ends. Children are invited to go to Sunday school before the sermon, and they usually return to the sanctuary before the end of worship.

Middle School & High School

Our middle school and high school students are active and important members of this faith community. They participate in worship, small group studies, fellowship activities, retreats, and mission trips.

Pre-School thru Grade 6

All grade school students will be using the WHIRL curriculum this year, which provides real-life faith application, hands-on activities to keep the kids moving, and fun videos to enhance the lessons. Click on the video for an introduction to the curriculum. Our classes vary between one or two groups, depending on the regular attendance of children. We have curriculum geared to two groups of children: Pre-K-2nd grade and 3rd-6th grade.

Confirmation

As a church we are committed to teach, mentor, and support our youth in a faith formation that will last them a lifetime. Confirmation is a very important time for our 7th and 8th grade students to begin discerning their identity as Christians in this world. Our confirmands walk through three intensive phases: Biblical and Theological Education, Worship Leadership, and Community Service. We offer confirmation every other year.

Intertwine

Middle school and high school youth are also invited to be part of Intertwine, a youth group that includes FPC and three other local churches (William Street UMC, Zion UCC, and Asbury UMC). The group gathers twice a month. This group creates space for high school-only conversations periodically at “Fireside Chats.”
