Free Carry-Out Meals
“The first essential component of social justice is adequate food for all mankind. Food is the moral right of all who are born into this world.” – Norman Borlaug, biologist and humanitarian
2026 marks the 20th year of our ongoing ministry providing meals to our greater community. We thank all who have supported and continue to support one of the most necessary needs in our world today. We are grateful for our amazing volunteers, community partners, and local organizations that help make this possible. “Fourth Thursday Meal” started in August 2007 with a goal to serve an in–person and prepared meal on the fourth Thursday of every month. In 2020, COVID-19 changed the way we provide to the community by introducing FPC Carry Out Meals to replace our in-person Fourth Thursday meals during the pandemic.
In 2025, we served 3,951 meals out of the back doors of our church. This total is higher than 2024 and shows the increasing need to combat food insecurity in our county. From individuals to families, the volunteers of the Kitchen Ministry remain dedicated to serving meals to those who need tem.
Free Carry Out Meals are currently provided twice a month, the second Sunday and fourth Thursday of each month, from 5:00pm-5:30pm at the back doors of the church. In addition to our curbside pickup, we deliver to various communities within Delaware, but cannot facilitate individual deliveries at this time. No sign up or registration required. All are welcome! Carry-Out Meals vents are posted on our FPC Facebook Page and on our home page under News & Events.
Thanksgiving in a Bag
Thanksgiving in a Bag is an extension of our Carry Out Meal program providing all the essentials a family of four will need for a Thanksgiving feast. Thanksgiving of 2025 was our 5th year continuing Thanksgiving in a Bag with over 200 meal bags served to our community. Each bag contained turkey, potatoes, green bean casserole, corn, cranberry sauce, and an entire pie!
With the generous donations from our church family and friends we were able to provide over 200 bags to those in need of a Thanksgiving meal! We were also able to develop new and important relationships with community partners. Sunbury Christian and Powell UMC generously helped us for the first time in 2025 with monetary and food donations.
